LOLA MARLA FLOYD

This is Lola; she’s almost seventeen, a senior, and falling apart on the inside. Why, you may ask? She was the girlfriend of the shooter, Jack Cree. Lola and Jack were an odd pair; outcasts at their school, they were constantly bullied and tormented, made fun of and pushed around. What drew the two together was their loneliness; from there, they discovered their love of music and views on the world. From the time Lola was a freshman to Jack’s death when she was a junior, Lola considered her boyfriend to be the love of her life. She was devoted to him, and understood him, but what she couldn’t comprehend was his analysis of the whole school. Jack would always “joke” about killing people, specifically students at Carson, and Lola would always play along. She thought his remarks were harmless, innocent. It wasn’t until the night before the shooting, things really got serious. Jack sent Lola a simple text message: “2morrow’s the day i,m goona do it,” to which Lola replied, “ha ha. go ahead.” And so, the next day, Jack Cree went on a shooting spree and took the lives of five students. Lola, who had meant nothing by her response, was horrified: she questioned her place in the situation, and wondered if it was her fault. People accused her of being an accomplice, but the school faculty and police assured her she was innocent. Yet, Lola still can’t help but feel guilty.
Friends? What friends? Lola's only friend in high school was Jack, and look where that wound up. Everyone hates Lola, that's the thing. They all are suspicious of her and feel as though they'd be betraying the school and the lives lost if they were to befriend her. Unless... you're willing to see the truth? To see past the lies and guilt? Perhaps there's potential.
There's no hope in love for Lola Floyd; her only "love" was Jack. And she's not willing to let go. Her heart aches, and she's still mourning him. Besides, she's kinda weird, don't cha think? So dark and edgy. Who'd want to get close with her?
Oh man, enemies. Everyone at Carson High is an enemy. Everyone who made Lola and Jack's life miserable with all the tormenting, the name-calling, the pushing and shoving, and God knows what else went on. Lola can't say it out loud though, that she hates everyone. Because everyone would think she helped Jack carry the shooting out. Which she didn't, and would gladly take back if she could. Yet people don't seem willing to let things go.
