and i've been roleplaying for four years. i'm eighteen years old, and i found you through my another site. as you can see, i enjoy using meryl streep as a play-by. oh, and if you want to see what i can do, check out the role play sample. yeah, i'm awesome. i know ! [/blockquote][/blockquote]` I DARE SAY THAT I'VE HEARD OF YOU BEFORE. REMIND ME AGAIN, WHAT'S THE NAME YOUR PARENTS GAVE YOU, ANY SIGNIFICANCE ?- - - - - I was supposed to be a boy, according to the doctors. As you can see, I’m not. Had I been a boy, my name would have been Gregory James. Since I’m not a boy, though, that’s not my name. My name is Carolyn Lydia—at least that’s what it says on my birth certificate. If I hadn’t gotten married, my last name would still be Vaughn. But since I’m married, my last name is Porter.
As for the significance of my name, I really don’t think there is any. It was a spur of the moment type of thing—my parents are never prepared for anything. I have to admit, though… I don’t like my middle name. I think that Lydia is just so…ugly…
` REMIND ME AGAIN, WHEN WERE YOU BORN ? I CAN NEVER GET ENOUGH OF THE STORY SURROUNDING YOUR BIRTH.- - - - - My mother habitually reminds me how much of a pain I was and have been to her. She said I came a week earlier than expected and that she was in labor with me for twenty-six hours. And my mother gave a natural birth, with nothing to kill the pain. I can’t imagine doing that, but… that’s how she wanted it.
Anyway, I was born on June 22, 195, which gives me fifty-four years of experience in the living department. My mother used to tell her friends that I was born at “8:05 in the morning with all fingers and toes attached.” I was twenty-and-a-half inches long and weighed eight pounds, nine ounces.
` YOU LOOK FAMILIAR, HAVE I SEEN YOU AROUND SCHOOL ?- - - - - Well, the only sensible solution I have for you is this: I work here. Because I work here, I suppose it would be—I don’t know—normal for you to see me walking down the hallway or teaching students in my classroom? I teach English, by the way. I can’t say that all of my students are like this, but most of them are simpleminded and…lazy. I just hope they get out of their habits before they graduate. God knows, the real world isn’t anything like high school, that’s for sure.
` MAYBE IT WAS JUST AROUND. WHERE ARE YOU FROM ?- - - - - I like to tell people I’m from the middle of nowhere, but that never seems to intrigue anybody. I’m from a heavily rural place in mid-eastern Virginia. When I was little, it was mostly country stores and dirt roads. Now there’s a few paved roads and a lot of back roads. There’s still nothing there; you have to go to town to get groceries and the like. As for Wal-Mart…that’s a thirty minute drive, and the mall is about an hour. They grow a lot of corn and beans. Every couple of years, there’s a field or two of cotton, but it doesn’t seem to grow very well. I can’t say I miss it much, since there’s nothing to miss.
` OKAY, BE HONEST HERE. WHICH ARE YOU IN TO MORE: GUYS OR DOLLS ? DON'T WORRY, MY LIPS ARE SEALED.- - - - - Are you kidding me? Oh, please. Do I look like a woman who would date another woman? No, I don’t. I’m married and have children. If you don’t believe me, I’ll let you meet them… I cannot believe you asked me that question…
` ALRIGHT, ON TO THE GOOD STUFF. WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME ? ANY FAVORITE PASTIMES ?- - - - - Hm, well… I like long walks on the beach, picnicking, and—ha, who am I kidding? I don’t have time to do anything anymore. I spent my free time grading papers, working, keeping the house clean, trying to be a good wife and mother… it’s a hard thing to do, you know. I’m not even saying that those are favorite pastimes, though they seem to have consumed—and still do consume—a lot of my time in the past. If I had to choose a couple of things, I’d probably say that I particularly enjoy just sitting back and reading a good book, doing a little bit of knitting, playing piano, and—I don’t know—looking through old photo albums.
` TELL ME: WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD ? THINGS THAT JUST MAKE YOU WANT TO SMILE.- - - - -
-organization and cleanliness (she keeps tissues, Lysol, windex, hand sanitizer, etc in her classroom)
-silence when working (she needs to be able to concentrate
-honesty and respect (this should have obvious reasons)
-punctuality (she hates it when people arrive late to things)
-professionalism (she likes being professional, no matter what the situation)
-intelligent conversation (ignorant people are not fun to talk to)
-opinionated people (she likes having outspoken students and hearing different sides of stories)
-teaching (no one believes this, but it’s true)
-playing piano (no one knows)
-singing (no one knows)
-shopping (she’s a woman who likes to spend her husband’s money)
-large purses (all the more room to fill, which means more shopping!)
-high-heeled shoes (Carolyn can work some stilettos, too)
-business suits, skirts and pants (part of the professionalism)
-seriousness (she’s a no-nonsense type of person)
-having power (well, who doesn’t?)
-money (again, who doesn’t?)
-searing hot black coffee (center of the sun hot and as black as the night)
-room temperature water (h2o is good for you…and she likes it room temp because, well, she does…)
-chewing on ice (she likes to annoy people with the crunching sound)
` AND SADLY, WE ALL KNOW THERE ARE THINGS WE JUST CAN'T STAND. WHAT ARE YOUR'S ?- - - - -
-cooking (since she can’t)
-messes (god, she goes crazy if there’s a mess)
-fast food (it makes people fat, and Carolyn wants to keep her figure)
-excuses (it’s just one big lie, really)
-joke and pranks (did I mention that she’s serious)
-being underestimated (DON’T underestimate her—simple as that)
- sharing her personal life (she’s a very personal type of person)
-being told what to do (she’s an independent type of person. You don’t tell her what to do—period.)
-not being married (she likes having a man there as a sense of security…and a sense of money)
-most animals (except cats, really)
-insects, especially bees (she’s allergic to bees, and they freak her out)
- chocolate (it’s too sweet for her)
-freesias (she just doesn’t like them…)
-strong perfumes (she has a mild asthmatic problem)
-strawberries (she’s allergic to them)
-her middle name (Lydia is just an ugly name to her)
-disciplining people (but everyone seems to think she does because she’s so harsh)
-texting (she can text, but she doesn’t like it. She’d much rather talk and let people hear the tone in her voice)
` ANY SHORT OR LONG TERM GOALS ? WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN FIVE YEARS ? IN TEN ? HOW DO YOU PLAN TO GET THERE ?- - - - - In five years, I can see myself still teaching here. I like it here at CHS, and I really do enjoy teaching the students. In ten years, I’m pretty sure I’ll still be teaching. If you have a passion for something, you won’t just give it up easily. Let’s just hope that I’m not a grandmother in ten years…
` WHAT MAKES YOU QUAKE IN YOUR BOOTS ? IF YOU HAD TO PICK ONE THING THAT HAS SCARED YOU THE MOST, WHAT WOULD IT BE ?- - - - - Being a mother. I remember when I found out I was pregnant with my girls, and my heart felt like it was just going to stop. I had never been so scared in my entire life. The thought of being a mother, at the age of forty-four, was not something I had prepared for. I had never planned to be a mother in the first place. Sometimes I still worry that I’m not a very good more, and I worry that my girls hate me. That’s why I try to give them everything they want.
` IS THERE A SIGNIFICANT OTHER IN YOUR LIFE ? HOW DO YOU DO WITH RELATIONSHIPS ?- - - - - Geoffrey and I have been married for six years. He’s three years older than I am and works as a surgeon at the hospital. He’s planning on retiring in a couple of years. Honestly, I doubt he’ll retire within the next ten years because he really enjoys his job. Plus we’re trying to make sure we have plenty of money to put the girls through college.
I was married one time before as well, but I don’t like to think about that. Thomas was a waste of my time. The only thing good he ever gave me were my girls, Caitlyn and Cassidy. I suppose I have him to thank for that…but not for anything else.
` NOW, YOU KNOW THAT I ADORE YOU, BUT LET'S TALK ABOUT SOME OTHER PEOPLE FOR A BIT. A LITTLE BIRD TOLD ME THAT YOU HAVE SOME PRETTY EXTRAVAGANT PARENTS, TELL ME ABOUT THEM.- - - - - My parents live in Florida—typical place for old, retired people to go. They’re both very healthy and doing well. My mother is Patricia. She’s 83. My father is Richard, and he’s 89. My mom was a secretary in some little law firm. My father was a dog warden.
I go to visit them occasionally. Lately, I’ve been too busy to really go see them, though we do get together on Christmas. We usually go to my sister’s house in Maine; at least she gets snow up there.
` DANG. ANY OTHER IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN YOUR FAMILY ? DID YOUR PARENTS HAVE ANY OTHER CHILDREN ?- - - - - I have a younger sister named Clarissa, but we call her Jewel. I don’t even know why we call her Jewel; we just do. She’s four years younger than I am. I’m told that she and I looked exactly alike when we were younger, before my hair really started to gray.
` HOW ABOUT PETS, HAVE ANY OF THOSE ?- - - - - The only pet that I consider to be mine is the cat. She’s a white Persian named Pearl. We also have a golden retriever, thanks to my husband. He gave into my daughters when they saw the dog in a pet store window. The retriever’s name is Hammy—don’t ask.
` OKAY, YOU HAVE TO HAVE KNOWN THAT WE WERE GOING TO ASK. WHAT'S YOUR BEST KEPT SECRET ? I WON'T TELL !- - - - - I really do have a heart—but shh! Don’t tell anybody.
Here’s a few others…
When I found out she was pregnant with my daughters, I seriously considered getting an abortion and not telling my then-husband about it. It was a moment of weakness, but guilt took over and made me keep the girls.
I married Geoffrey for his money. I mean, I’m only a high school teacher, and teachers don’t make a whole lot of money. I wanted someone who made a decent amount of money so that I could have a sense of financial security. But I didn’t just marry him for his money. I really do love him.------------------------------------------------------------
oh hai there, CARSON HIGH ! my name is amber
This is a reply post from another site, which is a HPRP. I hope it’s okay. Also, when I type posts, I am going to use caps where I am supposed to.
the professor stood there and listened as the young girl spoke. she supposed the student was trying to make herself seem like a model student, looking through books aside from her textbooks. the silver-haired woman laughed mentally and glanced down at the two books she had in her left arm.
“i suppose you expect me to give you a pat on the back and a job well done,” the woman sighed, swaying slightly from left to right. the girl had been looking through charms books, not like it mattered much to carolyn. she did like it when students took an interest in the subject she taught, but she never thought that they should be praised for such an interest. charms was the most important class at hogwarts, in carolyn’s opinion. all students should have been interested in it, and she felt that all students should be required to take it, for all seven years of their time at hogwarts.
“france. sounds lovely.” her voice was flat, emotionless. the only time carolyn had ever been to france was twenty years ago, when she and geoffrey had married. they spent their two-weeklong honeymoon in paris, where they saw the eiffel tower and all of the other beautiful sites. they had enjoyed those two weeks in paris. they had both taken off from their jobs and spent time wrapped up in each other. the memories she had of france were all good ones, but they still caused a melancholic feeling to sweep over her. the melancholic feeling could not be seen, though. there was no shift in her body language, and her face looked the same as it did moments ago. she seemed unconcerned and uncaring of the fact that the young girl had spent her summer in france, visiting relatives. sometimes carolyn wished she had relatives in france; it would give her a chance to go to the foreign country more often. but no, all of her family lived in england, right in london.
the professor looked back at the bookshelf to her right. she scanned the spines of the books. not like she could read them anyway. her eyesight had gone like an old lady’s when it came to reading, and trying to read things without her glasses was nearly impossible. she sighed to herself and turned her head quickly back to face the girl once again. she had asked what they would be doing that year in charms. the professor could not believe she had even bothered to ask such a question, especially if she already knew the answer. carolyn cleared her throat and let a slight chuckle escape through her nose. she then opened her mouth to speak, wearing a fake smile.
“what are we doing this year?” she repeated. the woman brushed the front of her hair back from her eyes and blinked a few times. her eyes were intensely blue today and shined with their bright sapphire color. the woman cleared her throat. “you’ll have to find out for yourself. my class wouldn’t be any fun if i told you, now would it?” she was obviously being sarcastic, trying to joke around with the slytherin girl. everyone knew that carolyn’s class, while informational and useful, was not the least bit fun. fun was actually quite the opposite. sure, the professor had the students read and practice spells in class, but she was busy walking around, breathing down their necks, and no one could enjoy a class when the professor was acting as she usually did in class. carolyn watched her students carefully and paid close attention to what they were doing. oftentimes the students found themselves having trouble with the charms, but she could tell them exactly what they were doing wrong to help them correct the situation. she offered a lot of “constructive criticism,” which was actually not all that constructive after all. she was just rude a lot of the time, but the students were used to that by now.
“my holiday,” the woman started slowly, “was uneventful.” she wondered why the girl would even ask such a question. she knew that the professor would not give a clear, detailed response. why people even bothered to ask her such questions, the woman was really unsure. she sighed to herself and waved her hand slightly, almost dismissively.
