-------------------------------------------------------------------------- * I DONT WANT TO BE ONE OF THE BOYS , kylar looked at the reflection in the mirror, astonished with the person looking back. for a few minutes she didn't even believe that it was her. after all her light brown hair had always been in a ponytail or down in a crazy manner, unlike the person in the mirror that resembled her. unlike skylar's usual hair-do, her hair was in a half ponytail, the loose hair falling down on her shoulders in small curls. her face, which was usually free of any make-up, was now full of it. her eyes had eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara added to them and her pale lips were now painted a red that suited her perfectly. blush was added to her checks as well as other items whose names she simply forgot. now, why would skylar, whose complete point in life was to stand out, would now go to extremes to look perfect? give? thought you would. anyways, today was the date of the masquerade, and although she didn't have a date due to her ability to think no boys in school were right for her, she was still forced to go, literally. after countless tears from her mother, she had regrettably accepted the proposal of making her over so she could go to the dance. usually skylar would have thrown a temper tantrum as well, but her mother had mentioned milly, which made skylar accept immediately, which was why she was now going to the dance. she walked downstairs, completely dressed, minutes the mask. her mother smiled graciously while her father gave her a hug. her siblings were in the living room, as well, some dressed as well, others paying more attention to tv than to their other siblings. skylar thanked her mother and took the mask which she had in her hands from her and went outside, with the siblings that were going to the dance, and headed to the dance. her older brother was going to drive them, thank god, which meant they wouldn't have to walk in their best clothes. anyways they got to the ritz, the hotel where the ball was being held. she got out from the car, and walked alongside her siblings into the hotel. the hotel was already beautiful the way it was, but with the extra decorations added by the planning committee, it was even better than before. she walked into the main room, while her siblings stuck around n the lobby, probably waiting for either their friends or dates. inside was even more spectacular than she ever imagined. there was an array of lights moving from place to place, illuminating the people that were already in there, making them looked even more gorgeous than usual. as she walked in, she got an unprecedented amount of looks, maybe because no one recognized her. of course not, since she still had her mask on. anyways, she walked around for a bit, taking a better look at all the decorations. unfortunately, she wasn't aware of the person that was going over to her. oliver could hear his mother downstairs talking to his dad as he rummaged around his room. mary was saying how excited and happy she was that oliver was going to the masquerade ball. it was a school dance, and yet for some reason, he felt the need to look great. maybe it was the fact that he was counting on skylar being there. he knew sarina was probably not going to show up. he had tried to get her to go out and shopping with him, but she hadn't wanted to. but she didn't want to do anything anymore, so he just gave up. when he had last been at her house, he had overheard their mother saying how she really wanted sky to attend the ball. hopefully skylar had listened to her mom, considering he would feel like a complete idiot if he went and she wasn't there. he really wasn't all that close with many other people in school. it wasn't that he didn't like them, it was just that most people found him a little odd. but he really didn't care honestly.
after getting dressed, oliver looked into the mirror. sure his outfit wasn't all that dressy, but he really hated getting dressed up for anything. he finished the last of the buttons on his shirt, leaving the first few open, a simple white tshirt underneath. Before going downstairs to face his parents, he grabbed his bracelets and mask. for once, oliver actually felt decent looking. not that he wasn't one with low self-esteem, but he wasn't usually dressed like this, and he didn't look as terrible as he thought he would. walking down the stairs, he fixed his mask onto his face. it just covered his eyes, so he was still very much recognizable, but hey, maybe some people wouldn't recognize him. "oh look at my boy," his mother said as she embraced him the second his foot hit the end of the stairs. "thanks mom," he said standing there in the awkward hug. he barely listened to her blabbing, but said a nice little 'bye' and grabbed the keys to his car. even though the ritz wasn't far away, he just felt more comfortable driving. he would get there faster. walking into the ritz, oliver was amazed at how nice everything, and everyone looked. people who he rarely saw in anything but sweatpants were in tuxedos and gowns. it was like seeing a whole new side of people. immediately upon arrival, oliver scanned the room for skylar. it took him a couple minutes, and a double take to spot her walking around. boy did she look beautiful. she didn't even look like the same old skylar. her hair was up, and from what he could see, she was wearing more makeup than usual. the blue dress made her look simply amazing. after a few deep breaths, he got up the courage to walk over to her. in his head he went over what he would say to her. he couldn't say anything that would make her realize what he was feeling inside. hell, she was his girlfriend's little sister. he shouldn't be feeling this way. but he couldn't help it. she was just so....perfect. "why don't you look nice," he said after walking up behind her. sure it was a little creepy, but he was just messing with her. it was always fun to scare skylar sometimes. she had such a great attitude about everything. kinda like himself. he always enjoyed his company. even with this mask on, he figured she would be able to tell it was oliver, and if she didn't...more fun for him. status;; finished tagged;; skylar! outfit;; here notes;; blah. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- * I DONT WANT TO BE ONE OF THE BOYS , kylar kind of wished that she could have come with some one, because she was somewhat of a loner at the moment. but it wasn't like she could ask anyone without making it seem like a date. her friends had dates of her own and her siblings had dates of their own. not that she could blame them, after all they were older except for her brother, who decided to go with a group of friends. skylar would have usually joined them but she didn't talk to any of them, and it felt weird being around your brother's friends, especially if you didn't know them. she would have been more bummed out if it weren't for the fact that a part of her was enjoying herself, although nothing had happened yet. skylar might not have admitted this before, but she was kind of glad to be going to the ball. not because she enjoyed going to these things in general, but because of the theme. she was able to lose herself among the people, after all not many might know who she was under this thing. by this thing, she obviously meant the mask that was covering half of her face. the only thing anyone would have been able to recognize were her eyes which could never decided which color they wanted to be. anyways, she pushed a few strands of her hair behind her ear before looking at all the people. most seem to have no idea who she was, not that she blamed them. skylar had never dressed up a day in her life, or had she ever put her hair up for that matter. she noticed many of her siblings had already found a table for themselves, and more people were streaming in. the part hadn't officially started, considering no one had started dancing, but she was sure it would become just as wild as any other party in no time. or at least that was what her sister sarina had told her. skylar was kind of sad that she couldn't be here, after all, this would have been good for her. but ever since celeste's incident, as skylar called it, sarina had been so different from how she usually was. skylar found it depressing, which is why she didn't speak to sarina as much as she wanted to. skylar remembered how close they used to be as children, but as soon as she entered high school everything changed. skylar didn't blame her, she knew sarina was getting older and they still talked a little. but not things definitely changed. skylar felt just as bad for oliver, her sister's boyfriend. if this affected her, she imagined it must have affected him, after all sarina used to be so fun and outgoing, and now she was just so different. skylar didn't even know her anymore.her thoughts were shattered when she heard a voice that made her jump about an inch off the ground. skylar recognized it immediately, but still she couldn't help but get a little scared. after all she had just been in her own little thinking bubble, completely ignoring the world around her. she turned around, only to be happy with what she was met with oliver, looking even more handsome than ever. skylar had always thought her sister was so lucky to snag a guy like oliver. after all, he was fun, outgoing, everything sarina used to be, and skylar was currently like. she hit him on the shoulder lightly. "jeez olli, you scared me"skylar said, a smile on her face. she couldn't really get mad at him, especially when he just said she looked nice. "you don't look so bad yourself" she added. oliver couldn't help but smile as skylar turned around to face him. up close, her face looked even more amazing then usual. he figured her mother, or someone else had done her makeup. her eyes were seemed to simply glow in the light of the ballroom. a part of him knew his eyes shouldn't be so intent on watching her, but he just couldn't help it. he was glad she enjoyed his entrance. "sorry, it was just too tempted to not try and scare you sky," he said with a smile as she landed a punch on his arm. it didn't hurt him at all but he rubbed it anyways. "woah there slugger," he said laughing. being with skylar made this entire night all the more pleasant.
last year, when oliver would have thought the word dance, he would have picutred sarina and himself dancing the night away. together, in happiness. but now, this dance consisted of him, alone, and sarina at home. he had tried to get her to come to the dance, but she just was not up for it. she wasn't up for much lately. and it killed oliver. he needed to spend time with someone. and thankfully there was someone he could talk to. someone who knew about everything that was going. unfourtnatley, that person was skylar. his girlfriend's little sister, someone he had never seen in a romantic way, ever. until recently. spending time with skylar made him feel happy and complete. they had matching personalities. she was everything sarina had once been. and he didn't mind any of it. that was, besides the fact that he was in love with sarina. and he wondered if skylar could ever take the place of his first true love.
a smile continued to form on his lips as skylar complitmented him. "thanks." looking around, oliver noticed that the room was getting fuller and fuller as more people began to arrive at the ball. almost noone was dancing, expect for a few people just joking around. oliver knew that the real party wouldn't start until later, when people would start dancing and just start having fun. right now was the awkward part where people were just saying hello, and finding tables and what not. nothing interesting was going on, so there really wasn't much to do but stand around and talk. for that reason, oliver was glad he had sky to talk to and hang out with. "so i see you're alone tonight. what no one's good enough for you sky?" he said mockingly. a part of him always wondered why skylar never had a boyfriend. but then again, she was only fifteen. she didn't need one. and he knew skylar, and most people couldn't deal with the way she dealt with things. she was special. and thankfully, he was one of the only people that understood that.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------- * I DONT WANT TO BE ONE OF THE BOYS , kylar knew she shouldn't feel like she did when she saw oliver. butterflies fluttered in her stomach, for and for a second she was glad that sarina was not here with them. but how could she wishe somethign like that? sarina was her sister, and skylar should have been a better sister and not even thought about how oliver made her feel. yet, she couldn't shake the butterflies away, just like she couldn't shake away the feelings that arose in her. her eyes remain fixed on oliver's, and the smile that had graced her face before, grew wider by the second. it was surpsing how the mere mention of her nickname, made her feel so giddy. of course, she kenw it was because her nickname exited out of oliver's mouth, if it had been anyone else that said she would have juist felt like she usually did. " ah well i can't hold your temptation against you, just don't do it again okay"skylar said. this behaviour would have been considered normal, she always let people off easily, she hated holding a grudge, and yet it felt different in some weird way. she had taken it upon herself not to hit him too hard, skylar didn't really enjoy hurting people, especially if she liked them. as friends of course, or so skylar wished it to be. she knew she didn't like him as if he were her friend, but she had to for sarina's sake. she had been so upset since celeste's incident, and skylar didn't want to make it worse by taking oliver away. and yet, she felt like she needed him as well. the whole situation was utterly confusing, the only good thing was that oliver loved sarina. at least in skylar though he did, she had not noticed any sighns of feeling the same way towards skylar as he did for her older sister. "sorry, but thats what happens for scaring me" she said, the slight joking lone lathered over her words. she was still surprised to be with with oliver, at a dance of all places. of course, oliver had probably imagined this before, but instead of being here with skylar, it would bes arina in her place. she wished she could let out a sigh, but she dind't want to ruin the fun she was having. the dance might have just started, but the mere fact that she was here with oliver made it better. it was wrong, and she knew it, but she just couldn't help it. and it was only one night, what harm could there be. it wasn't like she was going to spend every day with him, she barely even saw him anymore, unless they bumped into each other at school. skylar pushed all bad thoughts aside, and decided to just try to have fun, without anything ruining her night. hopefully, she wouldn't ruin sarin's either, letting things go just far enough was good, but too far would have been catastrophic. a blush formed when she heard the thanks come out of hios lips, she was so unused to complimenting people, on their look at least. she shrugged, how was she supposed to tell him her only option was taken. "haha shut up..... no one asked me"skylar answered, her tone still slightly joking. it hadn't been a lie, no one in her grade had the guts to ask her, but they barely asked anyone so it wasn't that big of a deal. skylar was releived though, she didn't have the heart to say no to anyone if they had asked her. the smile that had formed on olivers' face did not show signs of leaving. at least not as long as he was in the presence of skylar. yeah, he knew it was wrong to be so happy to just be around his girlfriend's sister, but he honestly just couldn't help it. the way he felt around skylar was the same way he felt when sarina had been happy. when sarina had been...herself. skylar's smile was just so real, and it made him want to make this night amazing for skylar, in any way he could. it was her first high school dance, and he wanted her to love every moment of it. "how kind of you," he said smiling as she forgave him for scaring her. oliver knew that skylar was not going to hold it agaisnt him in anyway. that was just how skylar was. she was one of those forgive and forget kind of people, and oliver really respected that about her. "i wont. i pinky promise," he said holding out his pinking to skylar. when oliver was a little kid he was always making pinky promises. to him, they were like the most high law, and breaking them was like the worst thing anyone could ever do. he always tried his best to honor his pinky promises.
oliver wondered how different this night would be if sarina had come. he knew for a fact he would not be with skylar at all probably. sarina and skylar had been drifting apart as sisters, and even oliver noticed that. the smile on his face would most likely have been much less permanent. if sarina had opted to come, she wouldn't be happy. and oliver knew that. so now he planned to make the most of his night, and keep himself happy. "i'll remember that from now on," he said rubbing his arm in a joking manner. he knew she didn't hurt him, and he knew she knew that too. they were just two friends messing around with each other. friends, that was all they were, and all they ever could be. and oliver hated that. he hated that he could never have a future with skylar. well, he couldn't allow sarina to lose anything else in her life. especially himself. this whole night oliver had been prepared for boredom. but now, that was all changed. he was glad to be spending time with skylar, they rarely got to do that anymore. he used to treat her like his little sister, but now he wanted to treat her like a princess. oliver noticed skylar blush a little bit, and he couldn't help but feel the butterflies in his stomach flutter around like maniacs. "how could no one ask you sky, you're pretty awesome. any guy would be lucky for you to even consider letting them take you to this ball," he said genuinly. skylar was a pretty amazing girl, and oliver knew that. he was falling for her little by little and there was nothing he could do about it. he wondered why other guys at carson didn't find an interest in skylar. she was beautiful, smart, and she had a great attitude about everything. she was happy and cheerful and full of energy. oliver never even got bored when he talked to her. tagged →→ skylar/andy! word count →→ enough status →→ complete [finally!] outfit →→ here code credit →→ . keka s k y e from Caution 2.0 notes →→ me too <33 (sorry its short and took me FOREVER to actually do. =/) [/blockquote]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------- * I DONT WANT TO BE ONE OF THE BOYS , efore tonight, skylar would have found it hilarious for a girl to gush about being at the dance with an older boy. but now she knew how those girls must have felt, not only was she here with an older boy, but she was here with oliver, the very boy that made her heart skip a beat. sure, nothing more than light flirting, from her part obviously, and maybe some dancing would occur that evening, but a girl could dream about it, as wrong as it might have been. the moment oliver had decided to speak to her, skylar knew that this dance would not be like any other she would ever experience. such a child-like thought, but skylar was technically still a child, and her thoughts were consumed with such pure innocence and bliss that she was sure this was too good to be true. and she was right, nothing more could come out of this night of wonder except an even stronger friendship connection with oliver, which would result in a broken-hearted skylar. she managed to get her head together in time to hear him speak once more, only to be enchanted by his words, as innocent as the meaning behind them were. "you're lucky i'm being kind enough tonight"she said, the childish smile still painted on her face. she was afraid to how hurt she would be by the end of the night, but she knew she couldn't continued dwelling on things that had yet to happen. so she continued with he happy facade, glad that she at least had the chance to spend time with oliver before they would be forced to part. she smiled as he held out his pinky, only to hold out her pinky as well and wrap it around his. as spark appeared when their skin touched, making skylar shiver. "okay, but remember if you break it.... something bad will happens... i think"she said, letting a laugh escape her mouth to prove that she was joking. skylar knew this evening was caused by the shooting, and a part of her didn't care. yet she knew it was at her sister's expense that she was spending her time with oliver. sad thoughts began swirling around her head once more, though it became much easier to ignore them, she had spent so much time doing it before that it almost came naturally to her. a part of her wished that sarina would be in her place tonight, although it was obvious that she would spend most of her time moping. still, it would have been easier to disregard her feelings if sarina spent all of her time with oliver, keeping skylar at a distance. "you better"she said, the familiar laugh echoing around them. this was so easy, yet the whole situation was just so complicated, much too complicated for skylar who was always for the easiest way out. after all, just look at her. instead of moping like she should have been doing, she became almost like a little girl. if she had been moping she wouldn't have gotten so close to liver, only to fall for him. on the plus side, now she knew what it felt like to actually like someone, even if they wouldn't be together. at least now she wouldn't have to spend her evening trying to figure out how she can enjoy herself. she pushed her light brown hair out of her ear, hoping that it would cover the blush that was becoming redder as her continued to compliment her. "most guys in my grade are to shy to actually ask anyone, and other guys don't find me to be that awesome... but thanks" she said, her smile wider than before. why did he have to make her feel weak at the knees with just one look? skylar knew that getting over oliver would be a difficult task, especially when he made her feel like she was actually special. although he was probably saying all these things because they were friends, always had been, always would be. "it's okay though, at least now i can spend my time bothering you" she said. a devilish spark in her eye. Oliver knew that the only reason his night was going to be any type of good was because Skylar’s mother had found a way to get her daughter all dressed up and to the ball. Without her, life would have continued on in it’s own boring ways. So he was more than glad to see her tonight. Even if all he would get out of it was petty flirting and miniscule friendly acts. He knew that he could never do anything with Skylar or ever even come close to being with her. She was forbidden territory, she always had been. And although it was unfair, it was life and there was nothing he could do about it. Oliver smiled when she spoke again. He could feel his heart flutter at her words. It didn’t matter what came out of her mouth, just the sound of her voice made him feel like a five year old with a crush on the pretty girl in class. “I seem to be a very lucky guy, and thank you for your kindness Miss Beaufort,” he said sounding all proper and serious with the second part. This night could go one of two ways. He could spend the night with Skylar having a great time, and loving every moment of it, or he could talk to her for a little and then go find other people to talk to. If he stayed with her, he knew he could end the night disappointed and feeling like he had a hole in his heart. If he didn’t stay with her, he would wish he did. He was in one of those terrible lose-lose situations. Being with Skylar had its consequences, but he loved spending any amount of time he could with her. Now that was priceless. The feeling of Skylar’s pinky wrapped around his made his skin shiver a bit, in the best way of course. Every single thing about Skylar made shivers be created all along his body. He knew why too, he was falling for her. And falling really hard. He just couldn’t help himself. She was perfect. Skylar wasn’t afraid to be herself and not care about what others thought about her. She dealt with things in the right way, and a part of Oliver actually looked up to her. “I’m sure something bad will most definitely happen if I break it. But I would never even think of doing that,” Oliver said with a smile gracing his face. When she laughed, it practically lit up the entire room, or at least it did in his mind. Oliver wasn’t exactly sure when he realized he had feelings for Skylar. After the shootings, things began to get weird with Sarina, and Skylar was there to talk things over with him. At first they talked about Sarina and what they could do to make things better for her, then they began to realize they had a lot in common. Hanging out began to change, and he started to see her differently and less like a little sister. He knew it was wrong, but you can’t help who you fall in love, it was just the hand of fate. And nobody ever messed with fate, you just didn’t do that. “Of course, I wouldn’t dare to not keep a promise,” he said just keeping his eyes focused on her as if she was the only girl in the room. Skylar’s attitude about everything made Oliver wonder where all her happiness came from. She always kept a smile on, and acted like nothing was wrong. A part of Oliver knew where she came from, he was always trying to keep others happy, even if he felt like falling apart. He felt like he always had to keep others feelings before his own, and just keep on smiling. That was part of the reason he enjoyed being with Skylar. He didn’t have to worry about pretending to be happy, because with her, he was always happy. He wasn’t afraid to let her see him without a smile; she saw worried Oliver, and sometimes even scared Oliver. She saw the Oliver that no one else really ever got to see. Maybe that was why Skylar had not been interested in dating guys. Maybe she didn’t want to seem vulnerable, or at least that was what Oliver thought. Oliver was pretty glad that Skylar wasn’t interested in guys right now. That meant that she was all his. Well figuratively, he knew that she would never be his. Oliver’s eyes wandered as Skylar moved her hair around her face. If he didn’t know any better, it would have seemed like she was blushing a bit. He knew that there was no way she had any feelings for him as more than a friend. “They’re just stupid, but you’re welcome,” he said smiling towards her. These were the few times where Oliver was truly honest with anyone. He really cared about Skylar and he wondered why other guys couldn’t see how beautiful and wonderful and perfect she was beneath her tough exterior. He was glad to find out that they were both glad to be able to be spending the night together at the dance. Even if he played it off as nothing, this night really meant a lot to him. “Lucky me,” he said with a sarcastic joking overtone. The spark in Skylar’s eyes made him smile the same way her eyes smiled at him. “This should be one fun night then,” he said with a laugh. tagged →→ skylar/andy! word count →→ 932 status →→ complete [finally!] outfit →→ here code credit →→ . keka s k y e from Caution 2.0 notes →→ [/blockquote]
