Ransom has a very odd way about him. It seems almost eerie in a way. No one can quite get a grasp on this man. He has a way of keeping everyone guessing about who he is, where he came from, and what he's done. But mostly, people wonder what was done to him to make him the man that he is today. Students tend to love to just sit and gossip about him, making up different stories about his past. Even his co-workers are kept guessing and are some-what wary of the man. But what's the one upside to him being so mysterious? Ladies seem to be rather intrigued and drawn in to him, wanting to figure out the mysterious man's obvious dark past.

For a therapist/counselor Ransom has quite the few problems of his own. He has his own depression, he has his own quirks, and boy, does he have his own habits. Sure, he'll tell students that drugs and drinking aren't going to help you. And he really does mean it. But that doesn't mean he takes his own advice. He really does mean everything he says to the students, since he doesn't want them ending up like he did, but he's still quite the hypocrite. He's been known to tell a student not to smoke and then to light up a cigarette as soon as the student is out of sight. He has tried to quit his habits and addictions before but after the last tragedy in his life he has no ambition or desire to ever try to quit again.

No one quite understands Ransom. To them he seems like a selfish, arrogant, hypocritical asshole. And in a way, he truly is. But he has his reasons. Certain things turn people bitter and Ransom Dalton King has gone through many of those types of things. Deep down, he's kind of a love-able sweetheart who just needs someone there to hold him and tell him that things will be okay... that things weren't his fault... But it's not like he'd ever let anyone close enough to do that. He's kind of a lost cause by now. No point in trying to save this poor soul. He's simply too far gone. The only thing that really keeps him going is that fact that he wants to help people become somebody since he couldn't help himself.

Ransom doesn't have friends. He never has and most likely never will. Sure, he's had a few buddies here and there but no one who he'd really trust his life with. He doesn't like letting people in. He'd much rather sit at home in his shitty apartment and eat Chinese take out while playing some video games or reading a good book. He doesn't mind being alone, in fact, he prefers it most of the time. If you try to ask him a personal question he will most likely turn it around on you and get you to start answering things instead. After all, he is a psychologist, he knows how to get in peoples heads. He'd much rather discuss your problems then have to admit and talk about his own.
There might be the occasional student that he jokes around with, or a few adults that he's acquaintances with, but nothing big. He might hang out with a few of the locals, especially if he can find some drinking or smoking buddies but he most likely wouldn't get close to any of them. Besides, those types of friends don't actually like you, they just want to bum free stuff off of you. Not like Ransom cares much. He's usually the one bumming all the free items, anyways.
Ransom surprisingly does believe in be-friending students, especially the students that are like him or like he was. This means lost, afraid, angry but most of all, denying the fact that you need counseling or any other form of help. Ransom first started getting into the whole psychology thing when his school counselor, Dean, took him in as a friend. Dean knew Ransom needed help but also knew Ransom wouldn't admit it. So instead of trying to talk to him as a counselor, he made friends with boy and helped him that way. Ransom wants to be able to help others in the same way... It's kind of all rather new to him though since most of his life his only concern was to look out for number one, also known as, himself.

Enemies. Ransom has quite a few of these. In fact, people from his past schools most likely want him dead. It's mostly guys who dislike him since he's good at stealing girls or outwitting them in front of girls to make them look stupid and slightly retarded. There are also probably a few broken hearted females who'd like to slit his throat too. In all honesty, he's always tried his best not to leave any girl broken hearted. He usually stays away from the ones that look fragile and don't seem to look like they could handle a boy sleeping with them only to be gone the next morning. But trying his best doesn't mean he's always succeeded... Sometimes you really can't tell which ones are the psycho, obsessed bitches that will try to track you down. And then there are the people who simply hate him for his seemingly arrogant ways and hypocritical warnings.
But people aren't only his enemies for what he's done to them. In fact, most of his enemies are the ones who have done him wrong. He can still name most of the kids who tortured him while he was growing up... They're part of the reason he's the way he is now. Not to mention the horrible things his mother put him through and all the men who shoved him around for simply being in his own home. If you could call it a home.
Let's just say... Ransom likes the statement Revenge Is A Dish Best Served Cold...
As for the here and now, Ransom will probably have a few enemies with people who don't agree with his methods. You see, Ransom has his own ideas on how to help people and sometimes they seem really twisted and cruel. He probably would've been fired by now because of complaints people have about him and all of his bad habits but he's highly recommended so the school doesn't seem ready to let him go.

Now, the truth is, Ransom never really grew up. Sure, he stopped being completely inconsiderate and started actually wanting to succeed in something in life, with the help of his own school counselor, but he's still mostly just a kid. When it comes to his life, he doesn't have very good instincts about what is right and wrong. He likes ladies as much as the next horny teenager. The only difference is... he's not a teenager anymore. He's a psychologist and supposed to be an upright man of class... but he's not. He flirts. A lot. And it's not even your normal, cute, innocent flirting. He has a way of almost offending girls... and for some odd reason, it works for him. Kind of like the crazy football players who are complete jerks but still get all the pretty girls. Except for the fact that Ransom wouldn't play football if his life depended on it. Maybe it's just the whole mysterious, bad boy thing he has going on that draws woman to him. Or maybe it's the fact that if you look past the cynical look in his eyes you can see all the pain and sorrow of a broken man... Girls like a sensitive man, don't they?
Since he's into psychology he also knows how to read people and get into their heads, helping him know what to say and how to act in order to get women's attention. Even before he started reading books and going to University for psychology he was good at reading others. Sadly for the ladies, they're not very good at reading him. They usually don't realize what kind of mess they're getting into until it's too late.
But there can't be all bad to one guy, right? Ransom is actually a very vulnerable man. Find his weak spot and you'll find yourself standing in front of a completely different person. This person's the sweet and romantic side of him. The one who buys roses and chocolates and will gladly snuggle up and watch some sappy movie if it makes you happy. Who knows, he may even open up and talk about his own emotions for once instead of only manipulating your mind until you talk about yours. Sounding kind of nice, eh? Just don't get your hopes up, though. Only one woman has ever been able to get to see his vulnerable and romantic side and she's gone now. The fact that she's gone will make it all the harder for you to ever get past his outer shell. But hey, no worries, you'll find it a bit easier to get past his pants and into them. But when I say a bit easier, I really only mean a bit. He's still not ever his wife so he hasn't been with anyone but his hand since her.

I could see Ollie going to him as a counselor for advice about something. Ollie is always freaking out, and can always use someone older and wiser. He would see ransom as maybe an older figure he could trust. It'd be cute. But, I don't know. Just throwing stuff out there.

Being the new girl in school is gonna be hard for Ryan. I could see her running into the counselor's office every now and then. Maybe Ransom was the first staff she was introduced to in the school, therefore really the only breathing human in the school who knows her at first. She's bubbly and would love to be able to just chat with Ransom about anything. I thinks he would confide in him about her search for her parents, since he's a counselor and has access to certain things. But, I don't know. Just trying to thing.

Oliver&Ransom - That sounds good to me. Oliver could even talk about his whole girlfriend and her little sister situation to Ransom looking for advice or something.

Ryan&Ransom - Aww, that's pretty cute too. I think Ransom would kind of find her amusing. Like, he's usually pretty grumpy but then she'd pop in and start babbling non-stop about something. He'd kinda start to smirk just listening to her and then try to cover it up and hide it because he likes to come across as being a tight ass for some odd reason. I think it could be pretty fun. And he'd try to help her but at the same time try to remind her that sometimes it's just better to leave it since your biological parents may not be all that cool. (He hates his mom and never knew his father.)

I can just see her running in without having an apointment or anything and he'd be smoking by the window and trying to blow the smoke out so that the room didn't smell like it and he'd freeze and be like "... you're not supposed to be here. Go to class." And she'd just start babbling and he'd be like "Umm... I'll give you an excused late slip and talk for awhile if you promise not to tell anyone I was smoking in here?" and then be like "Oh! And uh, yah, never smoke. It's bad for you. Uhh.. okay?"

poppy&ransom Poppy, being legitimately crazy and all, might need some time in counseling. I could see her having a childish sort of friendly relationship where she challenges him constantly- years and years of psyche doctors taught her all the tricks- and having a place where she can be as insane as she likes would be really good on her. Maybe they could meet after she goes through a particularly rough episode? Iunno, whatever.
